Katherine Shadbolt has practiced exclusively in the area of Family Law for over 35 years, providing a full range of services from initial consultations to advice, mediation, negotiations, and appearances at all levels of court proceedings—dealing with matters pertaining to parenting, child support, spousal support, property division, trusts, pensions, and equalization issues.  She has completed training in collaborative family law.

Katherine recently retired from practicing full time in litigation and now focuses on providing mediation and other legal services.

Mediation

Katherine is a certified comprehensive family mediator (standard) with Family Mediation Canada. Her extensive familiarity with all aspects of Family Law allows her to provide effective mediation and generate practical and realistic options for settlement.

Katherine is pleased to provide mediation between parties alone or together with their lawyers. She is also able to provide services in-person or by digital conferencing.

Mentoring

Katherine is an advisor with the Law Society of Ontario’s Coach and Advisor Network (CAN) and a mentor with the Advocates’ Society.

Teaching

Katherine is a regular contributor to seminars at the University of Ottawa Law School and provides topical articles on Family Law to the Ontario Bar Association and the County of Carleton Law Association.
